Greetings! My name is Matthew Didisheim, and I stutter. I’ve started Stutter Collective to unearth and collect the life stories of people who stutter, who may be predisposed by their disfluency to keep their stories to themselves. As someone who stutters, I know this has been true at times in my own life. We who stutter may be reluctant to tell our stories, on account of feeling unusual, awkward, or misunderstood. Stuttering carries with it a multitude of social and emotional complexities that can plague the mind if left unaddressed. But by telling our stories, I believe we can illuminate these complexities to better understand how stuttering has affected and is affecting us, so that we may live our most fully realized selves. Stutter Collective is a wealth of stories, a collective of role models, all with a shared experience.
I want to hear your story. If you would like to share your story, please contact me at matthewdidisheim@gmail.com. The world needs to hear it.
